Abstract

Background: The optimal work results are obtained if a nurse feels satisfaction in working. Job satisfaction is as a general attitude of an individual to his work. One of the determining factors for increasing job satisfaction is the relationship with superiors. The attitude or behavior of a leader to subordinates or employees determines the conducive working atmosphere in a company or hospital. The caring behavior of leaders to staff or employees is called caring leadership. Caring leadership as a leadership style can facilitate nurses' needs so that it will improve nurse performance and satisfaction. Purpose: this study aims to determine the relationship between caring leadership of the head of the room and the job satisfaction of the nurse. Method: This research is quantitative with descriptive correlational research design with cross sectional approach, which examines the dependent variable and independent variables simultaneously. The technique used in sampling is the total sampling technique with a total sample of 114 respondents and data collection using a questionnaire sheet with a test using Rank Spearman. Results: The results obtained by most nurses felt high caring leadership as many as 98 people (86.0%) and high nurse job satisfaction as many as 70 people (61.4%). The result of p-value is 0,001 (p>0,05) with a positive correlation direstion. Conclusion: There is a positive relationship between the head nurse’s caring leadership and the job satisfaction of the nurse implementers in the inpatient room regional public hospital of wangaya denpasar.
