PERAN KEPEMIMPINAN TERHADAP IKLIM KESELAMATAN PASIEN MELALUI KERJASAMA TIM DAN KINERJA MANAJEMEN

Abstract

Background: Patient safety is the main focus of improvement in hospitals throughout the world. WHO and Indonesian health minister have focus of effort to increase patient safety climate. The climate of patient safety is influenced by various things. Purpose: This research examines the impact of leadership factors on patient safety climate through mediator variables of teamwork and management performance.  Method: The study was conducted at Siloam Hospital in Bali, which passed national and international accreditation standards. The population taken was all hospital staff, with sample of 108 respondents. Data collection using the questionnaire method. Sampling is done by using stratified sampling and purposive sampling method. The analysis technique used to conduct data analysis is the SEM (Structural Equation Mode) method.  Result: Model testing by regression coefficients with the AMOS software shows that leadership has a significant positive effect on teamwork and management performance, management performance has a significant positive effect on the patient safety climate. Leadership and teamwork has no significant effect on patient safety climate. Mediation of teamwork on the leadership impact on the patient safety climate is not significant. Mediation of management performance on the leadership impact on the patient safety climate is significant and perfect mediation is occurred. The results of Squared Multiple Correlations show that changes in the climate of patient safety are affected by leadership, team cooperation and management performance by 80.1%. Conclusion: Hospitals need to make policy and directing resources to support management performance in order to improve pasien safety climate. Next research should include intrapersonal factors for better understanding.
