Abstract

Background: The construction of housing and buildings rampant lately which impact on the workforce working in this sector. Workers are required to have skills in accordance with their fields, including workers supplying stone padas. When working in a standing position, the worker is always in wet condition due to the splashes used to reduce dust when the rock is cut. These working conditions cause discomfort, fatigue, musculoskeletal disorders and increased workload due to unnatural or ergonomic work environments and non-physiological work posture. Purpose: therefore, it is necessary to do ergonomic-oriented work methods so that workers can work productively in a comfortable, safe, healthy and efficient way. Methods: this research is experimental research by using the same subject design (treatment by subject design) which is done in Workshop Sari Karya Denpasar City. Three samples with multiple repetitions.  Results: showed a significant difference (p <0.05). In the mean before the average treatment of stone stone cutting heart rate 63,666 ± 1,89 dpm, mean and musculoskeletal complaint 32,466 ± 0,915, mean of fatigue 82,200 ± 1,897 and productivity average 458,333 ± 14,840. After the average treatment of rock hard rock cutting rate 64,046 ± 2,12 dpm, mean of musculoskeletal complaint 57,800 ± 5,634, mean of fatigue 66,266 ± 0,961 and productivity average 543,666n ± 10,431. Conclusion: the ergonomic-oriented method decreased workload by 3.347%, musculoskeletal complaints by 25.33%, fatigue 15.934%, and productivity increased by 85.33%.This discussion shows that ergonomically oriented work methods can reduce workload, musculoskeletal complaints, fatigue, and increase productivity.
